In a move that highlights China’s rapid ascent in the global automotive industry, Xiaomi has announced the inclusion of its high performance electric sedan, the SU7 Ultra, in Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation 5. This marks the first ever appearance of a Chinese car in the legendary racing game franchise, which has captivated motorsport fans since its debut in 1997. The milestone not only cements Xiaomi’s growing presence in the automotive world but also coincides with the company’s announcement of a new digital concept model, the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo, being developed in collaboration with the game’s creators.

Gran Turismo Welcomes Its First Ever Chinese Car

Gran Turismo, one of the most iconic and realistic racing simulation games in the world, is developed by Polyphony Digital under the direction of legendary Japanese producer Kazunori Yamauchi. The game offers an unparalleled driving experience, featuring over 1,000 vehicles and more than 50 racetracks inspired by elite motorsport events like NASCAR, WRC, Super GT, and Le Mans. It also includes partnerships with renowned automotive brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Toyota, and Honda, alongside performance specialists like Nismo, HKS, and Yokohama.

Kazunori Yamauchi expressed his admiration for Xiaomi’s entry into the Gran Turismo universe, noting that the SU7 Ultra prototype set a lap record at the Nürburgring circuit. He emphasized how this milestone reflects the rapid growth of China’s automotive industry. Yamauchi praised Xiaomi’s ambition and enthusiasm, highlighting how the brand’s energy aligns perfectly with Gran Turismo’s mission to redefine racing through ultra realistic virtual experiences.

Meanwhile, Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s founder and CEO, commented that the inclusion of the SU7 Ultra in the game offers car enthusiasts around the world a firsthand look at the brand’s high performance capabilities and intelligent technology. He reaffirmed Xiaomi’s ongoing mission to make innovation accessible to all, blending advanced technology with driving excitement.

SU7 Ultra: Xiaomi's Boldest Engineering Achievement Yet

The SU7 Ultra stands as the most powerful version within Xiaomi’s SU7 lineup, delivering a refined fusion of luxury and cutting edge technology engineered entirely in house. At its core lies a high revving V8s electric motor, reaching an astonishing 27,200 rpm, paired with a tri motor all wheel drive system that produces a combined output of 1,548 horsepower. These figures place the SU7 Ultra firmly among the world’s elite electric hypercars.

Acceleration is where the SU7 Ultra truly shines, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds and achieving a top speed that exceeds 350 km/h. This extraordinary performance is supported by a track grade battery system designed to ensure high stability and precise response under extreme driving conditions.

The SU7 Ultra has also shattered lap records on several international circuits in the four door sedan category, reinforcing its competitive edge and highlighting Xiaomi’s growing dominance in the high performance electric mobility space.

From Reality to the Digital World: Xiaomi Redefines the Virtual Racing Scene

The partnership between Xiaomi and Gran Turismo goes beyond simply adding a new car to the game. It serves as an ambitious platform to showcase bold and innovative design concepts in the world of digital simulation. Xiaomi is currently developing a virtual model called the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo, which reflects the brand’s technological vision and transforms its in house engineering capabilities into an advanced digital experience that explores unconventional design ideas.

This move is part of Xiaomi’s broader strategy to strengthen its global presence through interactive channels that bridge reality and virtuality. It allows the brand to connect with a wide audience of car enthusiasts worldwide. This collaboration signals a major shift in the automotive industry, where competition is no longer confined to traditional racetracks, but now extends into the realm of digital gaming, a powerful new medium for building brand identity among the next generation of drivers and tech savvy fans.
