Chinese automaker XPENG is preparing to unveil the next generation of its electric P7 sedan, aiming to redefine the landscape of smart luxury sedans. The new model blends a sporty coupe design with robust electric performance and advanced smart driving technologies powered by the in house developed Turing chip. With these cutting edge features, XPENG is positioning the P7 as a global contender that caters to modern drivers seeking both innovation and sophistication.

Sporty Design with Precision Crafted Dimensions

The new XPENG P7 carries the signature of renowned French designer Rafik Ferrag, who also led the styling of the first generation model. His updated vision brings a refreshed identity to the electric sedan segment, emphasizing elegance and agility. The design team focused on delivering a coupe style silhouette that stands out instantly, paired with carefully calculated proportions to enhance aerodynamic presence.

The vehicle measures 5,017 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,427 mm in height, with a wheelbase stretching 3,008 mm. These dimensions strike a balance between exterior sleekness and interior spaciousness. Manufactured entirely at XPENG’s Guangzhou facility, the new P7 will be available in three fully electric variants, offering a premium five seat cabin experience without compromising the dynamic styling that defines its exterior.

XPENG P7: Where Power Meets Innovation

The new XPENG P7 is built on the brand’s advanced E platform, the same architecture used in the XPENG G9 SUV. It drops LiDAR sensors in favor of an AI powered vision system, enabling sophisticated assisted driving capabilities on both highways and urban streets.

Two versions are available: a rear wheel drive model powered by a single 270 kW motor and a dual motor all wheel drive variant that adds a 167 kW front motor. This setup delivers strong dynamic performance and instant acceleration, with a top speed of 230 km/h. The car has a curb weight of 2,125 kg, striking a fine balance between agility and road stability.

At the heart of the P7’s intelligent driving systems is XPENG’s in house developed Turing chip, offering computing power of up to 700 TOPS, on par with high end solutions like NVIDIA Thor. For energy, the P7 uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from Eve Energy and CALB, along with ternary lithium packs, ensuring stable performance and high energy efficiency under various driving conditions.

Smart Cockpit and a Premium Interior Experience

Xpeng has equipped the next generation P7 with a highly advanced AI powered cockpit, featuring the in house Turing chip that manages voice assistance, intelligent driving functions, and a fully personalized experience tailored to each driver's habits. The cabin features a wide panoramic display and a sleek, future focused design that blends elegance with functionality.

The P7 also comes with a fully integrated infotainment system that updates automatically over the air, providing an immersive driving experience supported by high quality surround sound and customizable ambient lighting. Climate and seating settings adjust intuitively based on user preferences, ensuring each journey feels uniquely tailored and luxuriously smooth.

Global Launch with a Competitive Price Tag

Following the commercial success of the previous generation P7 in 2021 and 2022, Xpeng is expanding its reach with a bold global rollout of the updated model. The new P7 is expected to hit the Chinese market in the third quarter of 2024, specifically between July and August, with a starting price of 300,000 yuan, which equals approximately 41,600 USD (152,900 AED). The company plans to determine overseas availability based on demand in each region, with strong expectations for entry into the GCC markets like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, as well as parts of Europe and Asia.

With a strong foundation built on popular models like the family friendly P7+ and the Mona M03, Xpeng returns with the new P7 to redefine the electric sedan experience. This next gen model goes beyond solidifying the brand’s presence; it introduces a bold vision of what smart, AI powered electric cars can offer on a global scale.
