The Chengdu International Auto Show 2025 hosted the official debut of the all new Chery QQ3, a fully electric model that revives one of the brand’s most iconic nameplates in the QQ lineup. Built on the advanced T12 electric platform, the QQ3 comes equipped with smart technologies led by the Falcon 500 driver assistance system. Its design blends modern styling with nostalgic touches inspired by earlier QQ generations, positioning the car as a direct competitor to models like the Geely Geome under the Galaxy sub brand, currently priced in China between 68,800 and 97,900 yuan (around 36,000 to 51,000 SAR).

Exterior design blending past and present

Chery introduced a unified design language for the new QQ3, giving the car a modern character while retaining nostalgic touches from the classic generation. The front features stylish headlights with inner lenses surrounded by oval shaped dual LED daytime running lights. A closed grille with the Chery logo in English dominates the face, complemented by a small lower intake for ventilation. The body carries smooth, rounded lines that recall the original QQ, while the extended wheelbase of over 2700 mm ensures spaciousness inside despite the compact footprint.

Key exterior highlights:

  • Sporty Cross Star wheels in black, available in 18 or 19 inch sizes.

  • Distinctive Q emblem on the C pillar as a model signature.

  • Sleek LED taillights extending across the rear.

  • Dynamic rear spoiler and more prominent three dimensional bumper.

  • Power operated tailgate and a 70 liter front trunk.

  • Vibrant youthful paint color options.

Smart Cabin with Advanced Technologies

The interior of the new QQ3 embraces a minimalist approach, combining clean lines with modern materials. A dynamic ambient lighting system with 256 colors creates a refreshing atmosphere, while the two spoke steering wheel integrates multiple functions through buttons and rollers.

Key interior highlights include:

  • A digital square instrument cluster

  • A floating 15.6 inch 2.5K central display

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor powering a new interface

  • AI systems with Visible to Speak voice interaction and continuous dialogue

  • Support for CarPlay, Hicar, and Carlink

  • High definition 540° surround view system

  • Innovative modes such as Camping, Rest, Pet, and Sentinel guard mode

  • 50W wireless charger with air cooling

  • Optional features like an integrated air freshener and mini fridge

The cabin also delivers enhanced comfort with heated front seats featuring memory functions, while the driver’s seat adds cooling and ventilation. The heated steering wheel boosts convenience, and Eco Ports allow easy connection for additional accessories.

Smart Driving Systems and Advanced Safety

The QQ3 is equipped with the Falcon 500 driver assistance suite, offering NOA support on highways along with a fully integrated self parking system that works across multiple scenarios. The car also features six airbags, high definition cameras, and the option of lidar sensors in higher trims. These technologies provide drivers with enhanced safety and comfort, whether navigating city streets or cruising on highways.

Electric Powertrain and Performance

Chery designed the QQ3 around an advanced 11 in 1 Highly Integrated e-Drive system. It comes with a rear mounted electric motor producing 90 kW, equal to about 122 hp, paired with rear wheel drive and a multi link rear suspension. While official torque figures have not yet been released, estimates place it between 200 and 250 Nm, making the QQ3 well suited for daily urban driving needs.

Strong Competition in the Compact EV Segment

The Chery QQ3 is aimed at young drivers and small families, combining a stylish compact design with a smart and always connected cabin. With its advanced features and competitive pricing, the car steps directly into rivalry with:

  • Wuling Bingo EV

  • BYD Dolphin Mini and Seagull

  • Leapmotor T03

  • Changan Lumin

  • Geely Geome

This positioning makes the QQ3 a compelling choice that blends modern technology with a touch of the classic QQ identity.

Chery QQ5 The Bigger Sibling

Chery’s presence at the Chengdu Auto Show was not limited to the QQ3. The brand also showcased the larger QQ5, which comes equipped with the more advanced Falcon 700 system. This setup introduces Urban NOA support for city driving, along with a premium Boyar Audio sound system and the same 15.6 inch 2.5K central display, complemented by additional luxury features inside the cabin.

Together, the QQ3 and QQ5 mark a dual strategy for Chery in the EV market, targeting a broader range of customers who value technology, practicality, and competitive pricing.
