2024 Huawei AITO M5 in-depth Walkaround The AITO M5 is a compact crossover SUV produced by Seres under the AITO brand, in collaboration with Huawei, starting in 2022. As the first product of the AITO lineup, the M5 slots below the larger AITO M7. The powertrain of the AITO M5 includes a petrol range extender with a 1.5-liter SFG15TR turbocharged inline-four engine. It features an AC synchronous electric motor, with the SEP200 asynchronous electric motor at the front and the Huawei DriveONE motor at the rear. The engine produces 82 kW (111 PS; 110 hp), while the electric motor offers a power output ranging from 165 kW (224 PS; 221 hp) to 258.7 kW (352 PS; 347 hp) in the rear-wheel-drive version, and from 365 kW (496 PS; 489 hp) to 517.5 kW (704 PS; 694 hp) in the all-wheel-drive version. The M5 operates as a range extender series plug-in hybrid, with battery options including a 40 kWh ternary lithium-ion battery for the extended range electric vehicle (EREV) and an 88 kWh ternary lithium-ion battery for the battery electric vehicle (BEV). The AITO M5 boasts an impressive range, offering up to 1,170 km (730 mi) under the CLTC standard when using petrol only in the EREV model. The EREV's electric range is 255 km (158 mi), while the BEV version delivers a range of 552–620 km (343–385 mi) under the same standard. The vehicle supports plug-in charging with a 3.5 kW V2L (vehicle-to-load) capability for the EREV model. In terms of dimensions, the AITO M5 has a wheelbase of 2,880 mm (113.4 in), a length of 4,785 mm (188.4 in), a width of 1,930 mm (76.0 in), and a height of 1,620 mm (63.8 in).
