According to our maintenance manual, it recommends using 0W-20 oil. I clearly remember that after the first maintenance, the 4S staff suggested upgrading to fully synthetic oil from the original semi-synthetic. However, they didn't inform me that the upgrade would be to a 5W-30 oil, which is inconsistent with the manual. Since I didn't know better, I agreed, thinking it should be better because it costs almost twice as much. I've been using this 5W-30 oil ever since. Last month, when I went for maintenance and asked to switch back to 0W-20 oil, they advised against it, saying it might damage the engine and didn't recommend switching back. In my situation, should I switch back or not? Would switching back really damage the engine? Or am I damaging the engine by not switching back? Any advice from those who know about this would be appreciated.
