I needed a family car since I have kids and elderly parents at home, so it had to be something high-riding and comfortable. After a lot of research, we ended up focusing on BYD, especially since I had previously driven a Song Pro from the same brand — it was very comfortable and reliable, and that built my trust in them, both in terms of safety and technology. Since we travel by car a few times a year, I didn’t want to rely fully on electric, so we went with a hybrid to avoid range anxiety. The car is spacious and suits family needs really well — that’s what I liked most about it. What I regret, though, is the color. I chose it thinking it wouldn’t show dirt, but it turned out to be the opposite — every bit of dust is visible. I feel like a dark grey would’ve been a better choice. There are also a few small issues: at around 60 km/h, you can hear wind noise near the driver’s door, and the engine sound is quite noticeable. Below 30 km/h, there’s a slight humming noise, and if I brake hard, the car reacts a bit sharply. Driving-wise, the car has excellent torque, and when you step on the accelerator, you really feel the power — the hybrid system has definitely been useful. Over the last 4 months, I’ve driven more than 4,000 km, and my average consumption for the last 50 km has been around 8.7 kWh/100 km and 1.5L/100 km of fuel — which I’m honestly very happy with.

The car just launched recently and there were no discounts. I bought it at the official price, and all they gave me were floor mats and basic window tint, which I didn’t really like. Most of my driving is within the city, and I use the AI mode — so it runs fully on electric most of the time. There’s no engine noise or vibration, and the cabin is very quiet, especially with the double-layer front windows. Fuel consumption is excellent — the gasoline engine rarely kicks in. The seat ventilation works great, but I’m a bit worried about the beige interior getting dirty. I’m still undecided whether to add seat covers since they might affect the cooling. The 5.0 infotainment screen looks good and is easy to use — just like a smartphone — but updates are slow, and some features are still locked. As for smart driving, it’s just average for now. BYD hasn’t really stood out in that area yet.

Can the 2020 BYD Song PLUS gasoline car use SAE 0W-20 engine oil?
Why does the USB drive I bought come with lyrics for the songs, but the car's system doesn't display them?
How much does it cost to replace the front micro radar bracket? The 4S shop is asking for over 1000.
The first batch of Song PLUS vehicles has gradually gone out of warranty, and recently I've seen quite a few fuel vehicles undergoing pre-warranty checks at the 4S shops. How have your vehicles been over these past four years, fellow car enthusiasts?
For the BYD Song PULS fuel version, if you're not going to the 4S shop for maintenance, what type of engine oil and transmission fluid should be used?
Does your car shake that badly? Have you experienced this? I've been told several times while sitting in the back seat at a red light. Is there a problem that can be fixed?
I have a question for fellow car enthusiasts: Does the active braking on the BYD Song Plus EV only work in Intelligent Pilot or Adaptive Cruise Control mode? I carefully tried manual driving while following closely, and even when I was about to hit something, there was no response (speed above 30). However, it works well in Intelligent Pilot or Adaptive Cruise modes. Is this normal?
Hey folks, which configuration of the 2025 BYD Song Plus Hybrid offers the best value for money?
Are there any cars that automatically trigger alarms at midnight? It's really disturbing. What solutions are there?
Does anyone know why a car's trunk would open by itself after being locked overnight? The trunk lock seems to be working fine. Any ideas?
Hello fellow car enthusiasts, I have a question about engine oil. My car is a BYD Song Plus fuel version, and it's currently driven over 30,000 km. According to our maintenance manual, it recommends using 0W-20 oil. I clearly remember that after the first maintenance, the 4S staff suggested upgrading to fully synthetic oil from the original semi-synthetic. However, they didn't inform me that the upgrade would be to a 5W-30 oil, which is inconsistent with the manual. Since I didn't know better, I agreed, thinking it should be better because it costs almost twice as much. I've been using this 5W-30 oil ever since. Last month, when I went for maintenance and asked to switch back to 0W-20 oil, they advised against it, saying it might damage the engine and didn't recommend switching back. In my situation, should I switch back or not? Would switching back really damage the engine? Or am I damaging the engine by not switching back? Any advice from those who know about this would be appreciated.
Hey friends, if the car exceeds the maintenance mileage but is still under warranty, will the dealership still cover issues?
I want to ask about your BYD Song P fuel version. Does the engine shake at idle? I don't drive my wife's car much, but yesterday I drove it and it was shaking a lot at idle. I called the 4S shop, and they said it might be the quality of the fuel I used and suggested cleaning the throttle. This car has only run 12,000 kilometers. The fuel quality shouldn't be that bad, right? Besides, wherever I fuel my car, my wife fuels hers there too, and my Volkswagen has run over 100,000 kilometers without any issues.
