According to the latest information, the project for the development and rehabilitation of Abkhadrya Road is 90 per cent complete.

The Saudi Arabian Transportation Authority announced that the Minister of Transport and Chairman of the Public Roads Authority, Salih Al-Jasser, inspected the progress of the development and repair project for Abu Hadriya Road. The project is currently 90% complete.

The project involves the reconstruction of 46 kilometers of the road and raising its level to improve quality. Additionally, the Nabiya intersection has been constructed, and the bridges at the Safwa Airport intersection have been repaired. The project aims to enhance the efficiency of the road network in the eastern region, while achieving the strategic objectives of the road sector and improving safety levels through the reconstruction of the highway.

Jasser also inspected several vital intersections in the eastern region, particularly the Ahsa-Buqaiq-Dhahran intersection and Abu Hadriya intersection. It was confirmed that 77% of these intersections have been developed and improved, including the intersection of Abu Hadriya with Buqaiq Road. Service roads, side slopes, and a roundabout ramp have also been constructed to ease access to the Kingdom of Bahrain. During the ongoing projects, 5 bridges have been constructed, and 120 light poles have been installed.

The intersection project aims to facilitate access to neighboring areas, achieve the strategic goals of the road sector, enhance the efficiency of the road network, and support economic movement.

Moreover, the construction of the marine bridge between Safwa and Ras Tanura, the first of its kind in the Kingdom, is 91% complete. This project helps shorten the distance between Safwa and Ras Tanura and reduces the distance to King Fahd Airport, enabling logistical and commercial movement. The works included 24 water drainage channels to preserve the marine environment, 15 kilometers of lighting works, and a 315-meter long land bridge at the Safwa roundabout.
