The Munich Auto Show witnessed the reveal of the all new Mercedes GLC EV 2027, joining the brand’s expanding electric fleet and setting its mark in the premium crossover segment. Built on a completely new electric platform, the model arrives with elegant lines, larger proportions, and advanced interior technologies. With a powerful battery delivering more than 600 kilometers of range, the GLC EV is designed to appeal to GCC drivers seeking a blend of German luxury and cutting edge electric efficiency.

A Fresh Design on a Dedicated Electric Platform

The Mercedes GLC EV has been developed on an all new electric architecture, giving it unique proportions and styling compared to the combustion engine GLC.

  • Overall length measures 190.7 inches, five inches longer than the standard version.

  • A longer wheelbase provides more cabin space for passengers.

  • An optional grille featuring a matrix of 942 illuminated dots creates a striking visual signature.

  • The exterior design retains the recognizable GLC identity but with modern touches tailored to its EV character.

Despite the upgrades, the GLC EV remains true to its family friendly personality, offering an elegant yet practical choice for modern drivers looking for a luxury electric crossover.

Performance and Powertrain Options

The GLC EV will be offered in two main variants with distinct power and drivetrain setups:

GLC400 4Matic

  • Dual motor all wheel drive system with one motor on each axle

  • 483 horsepower and 596 pound feet of torque

  • 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds

GLC300+

  • Rear wheel drive with a single motor

  • 369 horsepower and 372 pound feet of torque

  • 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds

Both models feature a two speed transmission on the rear motor:

  • First gear with an 11:1 ratio for stronger acceleration, towing capability, and efficiency

  • Second gear with a 5:1 ratio for better performance and efficiency at higher speeds

With this setup, Mercedes offers customers a balance between sporty performance and everyday practicality, putting the GLC EV in direct competition with electric rivals such as the BMW iX3.

Modern Cabin and Massive Screens

The 2027 Mercedes GLC EV also raises the game inside, offering a fully digital driving experience. The highlight of the cabin is the optional Hyperscreen:

  • Stretches from A pillar to A pillar with a width of 39.1 inches.

  • The largest continuous screen ever offered by Mercedes.

  • Runs the latest version of Microsoft Teams.

  • Allows passengers to join meetings using the built in camera even while driving, with video automatically disabled in motion to comply with regulations.

For those who prefer not to opt for the giant display, the GLC EV still delivers with three modern digital screens:

  • A 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster.

  • A 14 inch central infotainment display.

  • A 14 inch passenger display mounted on the dash.

Together, this setup gives occupants an advanced digital environment that turns every journey into a connected, high tech experience.

Electric Range and Fast Charging Efficiency

Mercedes equipped the GLC EV with a 94.0 kWh lithium ion battery paired with an 800 volt architecture, ensuring long range and short charging times:

  • Expected range based on the European WLTP cycle reaches 376 miles (around 605 kilometers).

  • Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes just 24 minutes with a suitable DC fast charger.

  • A quick 10 minute charge can deliver up to 257 kilometers of range.

The battery has also been designed with serviceability in mind. The electrical control unit can be accessed from underneath the car, making it possible to repair or replace without dismantling the entire pack.

Launch Timeline and Direct Competition

The Mercedes GLC400 4Matic will be the first to hit the market by late 2026, followed by the GLC300+ in early 2027.

Although official pricing has yet to be revealed, the GLC EV is set to go head to head with the BMW iX3, which offers 463 horsepower and a range of about 644 kilometers. This face off will mark one of the most exciting rivalries in the premium mid size electric SUV segment.
