In a move to strengthen its position in the electric vehicle market, Chinese automaker XPeng has officially unveiled the MONA M03 Max, the top spec variant of its new electric sedan. The debut followed its initial appearance at an exclusive event held for MONA series owners. XPeng plans to display the car in showrooms starting May 21, with an official market launch scheduled for the end of the month. The release comes amid growing interest from smart car enthusiasts seeking cutting edge performance at an accessible price point.
Comfortable Interior with Smart Design and Unique Technology
XPeng engineered the M03 Max to deliver a refined and comfortable driving experience. The front seats are equipped with a triple-airbag lumbar support system that can be adjusted in three positions, improving posture and reducing fatigue on long journeys. The panoramic glass roof spans 1.22 square meters and blocks 99.9% of ultraviolet rays, helping to maintain a cooler cabin environment and enhancing passenger comfort.
Uncommon for this price point, the car also features a full width dashboard ventilation system and an electric liftback tailgate that improves both loading convenience and visual appeal. These are paired with XPeng's Turing Smart Driving System and Tianji Smart Cockpit, offering advanced voice control and scenario based customization. Over the air updates ensure continuous system enhancements and optimal performance over time.
Advanced Electric Performance Powered by Vision Based Autonomy
The XPeng MONA M03 Max is equipped with an electric motor producing 160 kW (approximately 214 hp) and 250 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 62.2 kWh LFP battery that delivers a driving range of up to 580 kilometers under CLTC standards. The battery supports fast charging, enabling a charge from 30% to 80% in around 26 minutes, which enhances daily convenience by reducing downtime. With a drag coefficient of just 0.194, the M03 Max ranks among the most aerodynamically efficient electric sedans in production.
For autonomous driving, XPeng adopts a vision only system, foregoing LiDAR sensors, a notable distinction from many competitors. This setup includes seven high resolution cameras powered by dual NVIDIA Orin-X chips, enabling advanced navigation features for both highway and urban driving, as well as AI-based autonomous parking. Internal testing by the company has demonstrated consistently accurate performance in parking maneuvers and smooth operation in complex urban environments, reinforcing user trust in the vehicle's intelligent capabilities.
Competitive Pricing and High Sales Expectations for 2025
The XPeng MONA M03 Max is priced at approximately CNY 155,800, USD 21,500 (AED 79,385) in China, which is CNY 36,000 (AED 18,343) more than the base model. Although it uses a less advanced torsion beam rear suspension compared to the multi link systems found in some rival models, XPeng is banking on the Max's build quality and intelligent technology features to boost its market appeal.
XPeng expects the Max to contribute to total MONA series sales exceeding 200,000 units by 2025, especially as the standard version currently achieves average monthly sales of nearly 15,000 units. This trend underscores a rising demand for electric vehicles that blend affordability with cutting edge features.
