Lynk & Co is stepping into a new chapter with the unveiling of its plug-in hybrid sedan, the 10 EM-P, built on the all electric Z10’s platform. This model marks the brand’s strategic response to the slow sales performance of the Z10 by introducing a more balanced approach that combines electric efficiency with traditional engine reliability. Following rigorous cold weather testing in northern China, the 10 EM-P is now poised for official market launch.
Familiar Exterior with a New Heart
The 10 EM-P retains the sleek design language of the Z10 electric sedan, which debuted in September 2024. It features elegant, flowing lines, a lowered front end, and signature daytime running lights that reinforce the brand’s identity. The vehicle is expected to match the Z10’s dimensions, measuring 5028 mm in length, 1966 mm in width, and 1468 mm in height, with a generous 3005 mm wheelbase that ensures spacious cabin comfort.
While the Z10 was engineered on the SEA modular platform dedicated to battery electric vehicles, the 10 EM-P shifts to the more versatile GEA Evo architecture, the same platform used in Geely’s Galaxy M9. The new hybrid setup is expected to include a 1.5 liter turbocharged internal combustion engine paired with two electric motors, delivering a well rounded driving experience that targets those seeking both performance and efficiency.
Rigorous Cold Testing Confirms Readiness
On June 11, Lynk & Co released an official video showcasing the 10 EM-P undergoing extreme cold weather testing in a northern region of China. Although the exact location was not revealed, reports suggest it took place either near Yakeshi in Inner Mongolia or in Mohe, Heilongjiang province, two of the coldest areas in the country, where temperatures can drop below minus 40 degrees Celsius.
These tests are critical for verifying the vehicle's reliability under harsh conditions. Engineers assess the performance of the powertrain, battery response, and suspension durability. Successfully completing this phase confirms that the Lynk & Co 10 EM-P is fully capable of operating in severe climates, opening up broader market opportunities in colder regions.
Advanced Tech and Premium Features
Lynk & Co aims to position the 10 EM-P as a leading contender in the plug-in hybrid sedan segment, offering a suite of advanced technologies that align it with premium class models. Among the standout features are the Nvidia Drive Thor-U chip, delivering up to 700 TOPS of processing power, and the Snapdragon 8295 chipset, enhancing the car’s smart infotainment system and driving assistance capabilities.
The 10 EM-P is also expected to come equipped with an air suspension system, ensuring a smooth and refined ride across both urban roads and long distance routes, while elevating passenger comfort to new heights.
While the official pricing has not yet been announced, estimates suggest that the 10 EM-P will be priced slightly above its electric sibling, the Z10, which starts at 186,800 Chinese yuan (95,367 AED). This increase reflects the added value of the hybrid powertrain and the upgraded technology package.
With this new release, Lynk & Co, the brand born from the partnership between Geely and Volvo, is looking to revitalize interest in its Z10 platform by offering a hybrid variant that balances dynamic performance, fuel efficiency, and cutting-edge design for the modern driver.
