Porsche is experiencing major changes in the Chinese market.

Once, China was its most important market, but the shift in consumer demand and the continuous rise in sales of locally produced vehicles from domestic brands have posed significant challenges, forcing Porsche to close nearly 30% of its local dealerships.

For eight consecutive years, China was Porsche's largest single market. In 2021, Porsche sold 95,671 vehicles in the country, easily surpassing the 86,160 sold in Europe and 70,025 delivered in the United States.

Although sales dropped by 2% in 2022, they still remained strong at 93,286 units, again outpacing Europe where 92,197 vehicles were sold during the same period.

Porsche is undergoing significant changes in the Chinese market, as the brand has to close approximately 30% of its local dealerships due to declining sales.

However, Porsche's sales in China fell to 79,283 vehicles in 2023, and the situation is worse this year, with sales dropping by 29% in the first nine months.

In fact, in the first half of 2024, Porsche's global sales have fallen by 7 percent, from 167,354 to 155,945 vehicles. For this figure, Porsche attributes it to the fact that a number of key models were refreshed during this period.
